In this version of the iconic story, Kal was never sent to Earth following Krypton’s destruction. Instead, a codex was shot out in a last-ditch effort to preserve Krypton’s legacy. In it contained all of Krypton’s knowledge and DNA, complete with the power to rebuild the planet. Upon crash-landing on Earth, it attached itself to a young man, granting him these abilities and thus making him the new Son of Krypton. He now possesses the power to execute the will of Krypton’s ghosts or repurpose this power and knowledge for protection and heroics—a choice that may not be so simple.
